Stainless steel screens are widely used in oil and gas extraction, and their sand control and completion effects directly affect the production efficiency and lifespan of oil wells. During the extraction of loose sandstone oil and gas reservoirs, formation sand easily flows into the wellbore with oil and gas, causing equipment wear, pipeline blockage, and even production shutdowns. In horizontal and multi-branch wells, screen pipes need to be run into high-curvature sections with the drill string, requiring the pipe material to have good flexibility and resistance to bending fatigue. Fully welded stainless steel screen pipes can withstand a certain degree of bending deformation without weld cracking or wire loosening. In high-temperature, high-pressure deep wells, screen pipes must withstand the combined effects of high temperature, high pressure, and corrosive media, requiring the use of high-temperature and corrosion-resistant duplex stainless steel or super austenitic stainless steel to ensure long-term reliability. In steam-pumped or steam-driven thermal recovery wells, screen pipes must withstand the thermal shock of high-temperature steam, making the matching design of the thermal expansion coefficients of the wire winding and support ribs particularly important.

The improvement in sand control and completion efficiency of stainless steel screen pipes in oil wells is reflected in extending pump inspection cycles and reducing operating costs. Effective sand control prevents sand particles from entering the pump barrel and causing plunger jamming or wear, significantly extending the service life of ESPs or screw pumps. The good flow conductivity of the screen pipe reduces bottomhole flow resistance and increases single-well production. When screen pipes become clogged, they can be unblocked using methods such as acid washing or hydraulic sand flushing to restore production capacity. The fully welded structure of stainless steel screen pipes allows for reuse; they can be retrieved, cleaned, and reinserted during well workover operations, reducing material consumption.
