Seamless tubes are widely used in power plant boilers, and their high-temperature strength plays a crucial role in ensuring safe operation. Seamless tubes in power plant boilers are mainly used to manufacture components such as superheater tubes, reheater tubes, water-cooled wall tubes, and headers. These components are exposed to high-temperature and high-pressure steam environments for extended periods, with operating temperatures reaching 500-600 degrees Celsius and pressures reaching 10-30 MPa. The high-temperature strength of seamless tubes includes indicators such as high-temperature yield strength, endurance strength, and creep strength, reflecting the material's ability to resist deformation and fracture at high temperatures. Seamless tubes for boiler tubes are typically made of low-alloy heat-resistant steels such as chromium-molybdenum steel or chromium-molybdenum-vanadium steel. Through alloying and heat treatment, stable tempered bainitic or tempered martensitic structures are obtained, exhibiting excellent high-temperature performance and oxidation resistance. With increasing parameters, supercritical and ultra-supercritical boilers use heat-resistant steels with higher alloy compositions, such as P91 and P92.

The application characteristics of seamless tubes in power plant boilers are reflected in the stringent requirements for tube quality and inspection standards. The outer diameter and wall thickness tolerances of boiler tubes must be controlled within a small range to ensure the installation accuracy of the tube panel and the uniformity of flow distribution. The inner and outer surfaces of the tubes must be free of defects such as cracks, folds, and scale; the cleanliness of the inner wall must meet requirements to prevent oxide scale from clogging the pipes. Non-destructive testing is an important means of quality control; ultrasonic testing is used to inspect internal defects, and eddy current testing is used to inspect surface quality. The chemical composition and mechanical properties of boiler tubes must be inspected batch by batch to ensure compliance with design requirements. For high-temperature components, creep strength tests and metallographic examinations are also required to evaluate long-term service performance.

The high-temperature strength of seamless tubes plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe operation of power plant boilers by preventing tube rupture accidents and extending equipment life. Superheaters and reheaters are the components in the boiler operating under the most severe conditions, with high tube wall temperatures, high internal pressures, and severe flue gas corrosion. Selecting seamless tubes with sufficient high-temperature strength, combined with a reasonable wall thickness design, can ensure that the tubes do not experience creep or rupture throughout their design life. The installation and welding of boiler tubes require strict control. Post-weld heat treatment eliminates residual stress and prevents premature failure of welded joints. During boiler operation, wall temperature monitoring and life assessment technologies are needed to track creep damage and oxidation thinning of the tubes, guiding operation, maintenance, and replacement plans. Through comprehensive control of seamless tube material selection, manufacturing quality, and operation management, power plant boilers can achieve long-term safe and economical operation under high temperature and high pressure conditions.
